Learn More →Boundary Oak School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Fareham, Hampshire, for children aged 2 to 16. It occupies Roche Court, a historic house in around 30 acres of countryside between Portsmouth and Southampton. Founded in 1918, the school moved to Roche Court in 1961. It is part of Globeducate, an international education group.
Boarders follow the National Curriculum for England, leading to GCSEs and IGCSEs in Year 11 from a choice of more than 15 subjects. As the school ends at 16, international pupils move on to a sixth form or college for A Levels or equivalent courses.
Boarding is open from Year 5, around age 9, to Year 11. The community is small, with a little over 20 boarders at the school's 2024 ISI inspection, and international pupils have come from countries including Spain, France, Nigeria, Hong Kong and the United States. Full, weekly, flexi and occasional boarding are offered, and full boarders stay in school at weekends.
All boarders live in one co-educational, family-style boarding house with a kitchen, library, computer room and a common room for senior pupils. Bedrooms include modern twin rooms, which boarders are encouraged to personalise. A Head of Boarding acts as House Parent, supported by a deputy, a boarding tutor and gap-year boarding assistants, with staff on duty seven days a week.
The boarding day starts at 7am. After lessons and clubs, boarders have tea before prep at 6.30pm, when staff help with homework, and bedtimes are staggered by age. Weekends mix rest and study time with outings such as escape rooms, ice skating, paintballing and shopping trips, and boarders use the sports centre, swimming pool and tennis courts. Each new boarder is paired with a buddy.
A learning support team identifies needs early and offers one-to-one and small-group sessions at additional cost. Form tutors lead day-to-day pastoral care, and daily tutor time follows a programme covering topics such as bullying and mental health. Pupils can raise concerns confidentially through a pastoral website, and a nurse, a school counsellor and a doctor based nearby look after health and wellbeing.

A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Boundary Oak School may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own.
