An exchange placement gives a student a full term or more in a top UK boarding school. They will experience the true UK boarding school experience, attending lessons alongside British pupils, living on-campus in the school's boarding houses, and gaining a real sense of whether a longer-term boarding stay would suit them.

Who Is This Programme For?

Our Student Exchange Programme is available to all students aged 11 to 17 at any time during the year. The programme is designed to allow students to experience life overseas on exchange without affecting their home education, with times of departure varying according to the city or school they choose. Students experience British student life in a new home town while attending a local boarding school.

It is ideal for a student who hopes to experience an exchange but is unable to miss school at home.

A Crucial Step Before Committing

Many families use a short-term exchange placement to test the water before applying for a long-term, multi-year boarding place. If that is your plan, please let us know. What to Expect from a Student Exchange

From the moment your child arrives, they follow the same rhythm as their British classmates: morning registration, lessons across the full curriculum, sport in the afternoons and the social life of the school community. Everything happens in English, all day, which is why even a short exchange delivers language progress that classroom lessons at home cannot match.

Throughout the stay, we remain the student's educational guardian and the family's point of contact in the UK. Parents receive updates on how their child is settling in, the school knows exactly who to call, and the student has someone local to turn to at any time. Students return home more confident, more independent, and with friendships and an insight into British life that stay with them long after the exchange ends.

Admission Deadlines

Exchange placements depend on the term dates and capacity of the host school, so timing matters. As a rule, apply at least one term ahead of the intended stay: autumn term placements are best arranged by the end of the previous spring, and January placements before the autumn half term.
