Most international pupils study under the Child Student route, which covers ages 4 to 17 and requires parental consent and suitable care arrangements for their time in the UK.
This list was updated in 2026 and covers the UK boarding schools where British Guardianship can provide UK boarding school guardianship and UK boarding school placement. UK boarding schools ask every international pupil to have a nominated UK guardian in place for the whole of their time at school. Our AEGIS accredited team acts as that guardian. We provide a local coordinator close to the school, Enhanced DBS checked host families for half-terms, exeats and holidays, and 24-hour emergency support. Intake Information
The main intake for UK boarding schools is in September, at the start of the academic year. Most international pupils join at one of the main entry points, such as Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) or Year 12 for Sixth Form (16+). Some schools also admit pupils during the academic year, where places allow. Some boarding schools offer a short-term boarding option, so international pupils can try boarding school life before they commit to a full academic year. We arrange this through our Student Exchange Programme.
