What is Summer Junior Programme?
All inclusive study holidays for junior learners. Summer courses in the UK are short, intensive English language courses combined with a great holiday, giving your child the chance to get to know Britain and British people while learning the English language.
These programmes offer a rich mixture of English lessons, workshops and projects in a unique theme-based approach. Summer courses are usually no longer than 8 weeks and are designed for students who want to come to the UK during the summer to spend their time studying English. They are ideal for young adults or younger teenagers in groups. Courses are usually offered to students from the age of 8, and there are usually no more than 15 students per class.
Summer courses focus on developing all major language areas such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar. There are a variety of different summer courses at different levels of language proficiency, including summer general English courses and summer IELTS courses.
How to Choose the Perfect Summer School
The right summer school depends on what you want the summer to achieve for your child. Most families fall into one of two groups.
A First Taste of Boarding School Life
If you are considering a full boarding school education for your child in the future, the summer is the perfect opportunity to try it first. Many traditional UK boarding schools run specialised summer programmes on their own campuses, where children live in the boarding houses, eat in the dining halls and follow a daily routine very close to term-time life.
Your child experiences the boarding school environment first-hand, and you gain real insight into whether boarding is the right path, before committing to a full boarding school admission. If full boarding option is not available, we can place your child to a British host family close to the school.
A Summer of English by the Sea
If your goal is a summer of English language learning, look at the dedicated English language schools in England's coastal cities such as Brighton, Eastbourne and Bournemouth. These schools combine morning lessons with afternoons on the beach, excursions and social programmes. Or traditional student places such as Oxford, Cambridge or London which offers a wide range of amazing attractions for young learners.
It is a summer full of fun, meeting children from all over the world, and returning home in September with noticeably improved English for their studies.

Admission Deadlines
Summer programmes have limited places and the most popular schools fill quickly. Bookings typically open in the autumn for the following summer, and we recommend securing a place no later than between January and April; by late spring, the best known schools and coastal destinations are often full. What Type of Guardianship Is Required?
For short summer stays, requirements are lighter than for full-year students. Residential summer programmes at boarding schools provide 24 hour supervision on site, and for these stays our Short Stay Guardianship covers everything outside the school gates: airport transfers, a UK point of contact for the school and parents, and support if your child is unwell or plans change unexpectedly.
English language schools set their own policies, and many do not require a formal guardian above a certain age for short courses. Requirements vary by school and by visa route, so always check the official requirements of your chosen school and the current UK government guidance before travelling. Summer Junior Programme or Summer English Language Programme?
The two terms are often used interchangeably, but there is a real difference. A Summer Junior Programme is the broader, all inclusive residential experience: accommodation, meals, supervision, activities, excursions and lessons in one package, often on a boarding school campus, with English woven through the whole day.
A Summer English Language Programme puts the language course itself at the centre: more tuition hours, formal levels and exam options such as IELTS, typically at a dedicated Engish language school, with activities built around the lessons rather than the other way round.
In short: choose a Summer Junior Programme for the full residential experience and a taste of boarding life, and a Summer English Language Programme when measurable language progress is the priority.
