Learn More →Bredon School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 8 to 18, set on an 84-acre rural estate at Pull Court, near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, close to the Malvern Hills. The school opened in 1962 with 26 pupils and has specialised in teaching pupils with dyslexia from the start. Since 2014 it has been part of Cavendish Education, a group of independent schools across the UK.
A mainstream school recognised by CReSTeD, Bredon has Junior, Senior and Sixth Form sections and classes of around 10. Pupils follow Academic, Creative, Vocational or Vocational Plus pathways, leading to GCSEs and then A Levels, BTECs and other vocational qualifications in areas such as agriculture, animal management, land-based engineering and professional cookery, with the Extended Project Qualification also available.
More than 40 per cent of pupils board, and boarding is available from the age of nine. Full boarders stay through the week and at weekends, while weekly and flexi boarding give families more flexible options. Each term includes two long exeat weekends as well as half term. Bredon School offers full boarding for international students; current boarder numbers and nationalities are available on request.
Boarders live in supervised boarding houses with resident staff; room allocation is confirmed by the school on entry. The boarding team is separate from the teaching staff, and its members are experienced in supporting pupils with dyslexia. House staff help with prep and coursework and keep in close contact with teachers about each boarder's progress.
After lessons, boarders have time to relax before evening prep, supported by the boarding team, and a programme of evening and weekend activities includes trips and weekend excursions. The Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award are part of school life.
Dyslexia-friendly teaching runs through the whole curriculum, and assistive technology is built into everyday learning. Specialist SpLD teachers work from Garden Cottage, a dedicated learning support centre that offers a calm space for building confidence and independence. Sixth formers can resit GCSE English and Maths where needed, and the school's values of tolerance, openness and trust underpin its pastoral care.
Every international boarder at Bredon School must have a UK guardian. British Guardianship provides AEGIS accredited boarding school guardianship for international students at UK boarding schools.

Bredon School accepts international boarders from the age of nine through the Junior and Senior schools to the Sixth Form, where vocational and academic courses can be combined. Most international students join in September; entry in other year groups is considered individually. The school's transport service includes transfers to and from major airports and railway stations. British Guardianship supports international families through every stage of the application with our boarding school admissions service.
English is assessed as part of the application, and British Guardianship confirms the level required for each year of entry during placement. Bredon runs an English as an Additional Language programme for pupils whose first language is not English, with one-to-one or small-group lessons and timetables adjusted to individual needs. The programme supports progress across the curriculum and prepares pupils for qualifications including IGCSE, Cambridge KET, PET and FCE, and IELTS, as a foundation for GCSEs, A Levels or university entry.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. Bredon School is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and issues the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies needed for the application, while the visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.

A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Bredon School may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
