Marymount International School London Overview

Marymount International School London is an independent Catholic day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18, set on a seven-acre garden campus on George Road in Kingston upon Thames in south-west London, around 12 miles from the centre of the capital. Founded in 1955 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, it belongs to a worldwide network of RSHM schools and welcomes students of all faiths. Around 250 girls attend, including some 80 in the Sixth Form, and they represent about 55 nationalities.

Marymount follows the International Baccalaureate throughout. Girls in Grades 6 to 10, equivalent to UK Years 7 to 11, take the IB Middle Years Programme, and the Sixth Form follows the IB Diploma Programme, with six subjects alongside theory of knowledge and the extended essay. Facilities include a STEAM hub, a sports hall, a dance studio, tennis courts and an all-weather pitch.

Boarding at Marymount International School London

Around a quarter of students board, roughly 50 of them as full boarders, with smaller numbers boarding weekly or on a flexi basis. Seven-day, five-day and flexi boarding are all offered, and most boarders are in the older year groups.

Boarding Houses and Accommodation

Boarders live on campus in residence halls, in rooms shared by two, three or four students, each girl with her own bed and study area, and with shared lounges. A team of houseparents and residential staff who live on site look after boarders' care and safety, and a Boarding Council of student leaders, chosen each year, helps plan activities and represents boarders' views.

Boarding Life

Younger boarders hand in their phones before bedtime to protect sleep. At weekends, the boarding programme mixes educational, cultural and recreational outings, with regular trips into central London to museums, galleries, exhibitions and landmarks, together with swimming, trampoline parks and quieter time to relax.

Academic and Pastoral Support

Each girl has an Advisor and a Head of Year who follow her academic progress, while houseparents oversee boarders' wellbeing. A head of learning support helps students who need extra support, whether or not they have a formal diagnosis, and special educational needs are considered case by case.
