Claremont offers full and weekly boarding for boys and girls aged 10 to 18, with places for around 100 boarders across two houses. Full-time boarders spend weekends in their house, where all weekend meals are served. The school community includes more than 20 nationalities, and immersion courses of two to six weeks, with boarding, run through the school year.
Girls board in Pyke House in Battle, which also has a separate wing for younger boys up to 13 and a common room for junior boarders. After dinner, boarders have scheduled study time, supervised by house parents up to Year 10, followed by social activities and clubs. Weekend outings include bowling, the cinema, ice skating, Go Ape, paintballing, forest cycling and the Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux, as well as trips to London, which Sixth Formers may visit independently.
The Learning Support team agrees an individual support plan for each pupil who needs one, reviewed regularly with families, and offers one-to-one and small-group interventions, multi-sensory strategies and THRIVE sessions for emotional resilience, drawing on educational psychologists and speech and language therapists. The EAL department runs Cambridge English preparation, and Sixth Formers receive UCAS mentoring in a dedicated Sixth Form Centre.

Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. Claremont School is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and helps families obtain the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, while the visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.

Weekly boarders in Years 7 to 10 must be collected and dropped off by a parent or guardian, so families choosing weekly boarding need a guardian within easy reach.

Whenever your child cannot stay at Claremont School, for example during half terms, exeats or holidays when boarding houses close, they stay with one of our vetted host families. British Guardianship remains your child's educational guardian throughout every stay.
We have guardians available and ready to be assigned. The overall timeframe depends on how quickly the required paperwork is completed and communication with Claremont School is finalised. Boarding school guardianship is charged per term and starts from £350, with host family stays, travel arrangements and other services added as your child needs them. Full details are on our guardianship fees page.
A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Claremont School may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
