Boarding is offered only in the Sixth Form, on its own site in central Cambridge. Students choose from more than 25 A Level courses, usually taking three or four, alongside the optional Extended Project Qualification. Classes are small and seminar style, and the Sixth Form has its own library, café and sports hall.
Full-time boarding is open to UK and international A Level students aged 16 and over, in a community of up to 40 boarders. There is no Saturday school, weekend activities are optional, and there are no fixed exeat weekends, so boarders can request an exeat on any weekend. Boarders need not pack up their rooms for half terms or holidays.
Boarders live at St Barnabas House, near Cambridge railway station and a short walk from teaching buildings. Boys and girls have separate living areas, and every boarder has a single room, most en-suite. There is a common room, study space and a garden. Resident boarding staff run the house, and a Matron holds regular check-ins.
Study runs from 7pm to 9pm, Monday to Thursday, with staff on hand. Weeknight activities include cinema trips, bowling and escape rooms, and at weekends boarders can try climbing, archery and paddle boarding on the River Cam. The dining room caters for diets from vegetarian to halal, and London is less than an hour away by train.
Teachers meet each boarder every half term to review progress, tutors and Heads of Year know each student individually, and one-to-one university and careers advice is part of the Sixth Form programme. Wellbeing provision includes school nurses, counsellors and wellbeing dogs, and the Good Schools Guide lists support for specific learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.
