Our local guardianship coordinators play a vital role in supporting students, host families and schools within their area. They are our presence on the ground: the familiar face who meets a student at school, checks in on a placement, and steps in when something needs sorting in person.

This flexible role is ideal for organised, reliable individuals with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to student welfare. Many of our coordinators combine the role with family life, part-time work or retirement, you set your availability and we work around it.

What We Are Looking For

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of your local area
• Ability to respond to student welfare matters when required
• Access to transport and ability to carry out visits
• Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare
• Willingness to undergo required checks and provide references

Responsibilities Include

• Meeting and supporting students
• Maintaining contact with host families
• Carrying out welfare visits
• Assisting with urgent situations when necessary
• Acting as a local point of contact

What Is the Difference Between a Host Family and a Local Coordinator?

A host family provides accommodation: a safe, welcoming home where a student stays during exeats, half terms and holidays. A local coordinator does not accommodate students. Instead, they support them from nearby: visiting placements, keeping in touch with host families and schools, attending events on a family's behalf and being the first person on the ground when something needs attention. In short, host families open their homes, coordinators keep the local network running around them.

Can a Host Family Also Be a Local Coordinator?

In some cases, yes. The coordinator role requires slightly different training, but the two can be combined, and hosts who know their area and our students well often make excellent coordinators. If you are interested in both, mention it when you get in touch and we will talk you through how the combined arrangement works.

Safeguarding and Compliance

The safety and wellbeing of students is our highest priority. All successful applicants will be required to:

• Demonstrate their suitability to work with young people
• Provide satisfactory references
• Comply with safeguarding and student welfare requirements
• Undergo relevant background checks, including an Enhanced DBS check where applicable
• Follow our policies and procedures
