Learn More →Luckley House School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Wokingham, Berkshire, for pupils aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1918 on its present site, it traded as Luckley-Oakfield until 2013 and became co-educational in 2015. Boys now make up around half of its roughly 370 pupils, and the school has a Christian ethos.
Pupils follow a broad Key Stage 3 curriculum, including two modern languages, engineering and computer science, then take GCSEs with English, mathematics, science and a language at the core. The Sixth Form offers more than 20 A Level subjects, and most students also complete an Extended Project Qualification. London Heathrow is around 30 minutes away by road.
Boarding is a small community of fewer than 30 boys and girls from the UK and overseas. Families can choose full, weekly or flexi boarding. Full boarders stay in school at weekends, with one optional exeat weekend each half term when they may go home, stay with a guardian or remain at school. International students can also join for a single term through a short-term boarding package.
Boarders live in the Main House and in rooms above the Sixth Form Centre. Bedrooms are shared, modern and recently refurbished, and boarders can personalise them. Shared facilities include common rooms with large-screen televisions, kitchens and in-house laundry. A Health Centre run by qualified nurses manages boarders' appointments and medication.
Weekday evenings combine enrichment activities, supper and supervised prep, followed by evening activities and staggered bedtimes. Boarders help shape the weekend programme, with a full day of activities on Saturdays and an outing on Sunday afternoons, and trips include London, Windsor, national parks and theme parks. With permission, boarders may walk into Wokingham with friends.
Every pupil sees a form tutor daily, and a Life Skills programme covers personal, social and health education in Years 7 to 11. The Learning Support department offers dyslexia screening, study skills courses and individual specialist support for pupils with recognised learning differences, and can provide exam access arrangements where pupils meet exam board criteria. Sixth Form students receive tutor guidance on university and careers.

English is assessed as part of the application, and British Guardianship confirms the level required for each year of entry during placement. Pupils whose first language is not English can receive specialist EAL teaching, one-to-one or in groups of up to five, in everyday, academic or subject-specific English. Students in Years 11 to 13 can also take one-to-one IELTS preparation. EAL lessons are charged in addition to fees.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. Luckley House School is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and can sponsor the visa for its international boarders, while the visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
