Reddam House Berkshire Overview

Reddam House Berkshire is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school at Sindlesham, near Wokingham in Berkshire, educating children from 3 months to 18 years on one campus around 40 miles west of London. Lessons are centred on a restored Victorian mansion set in more than 125 acres of parkland. Opened in 2015, the school is part of Inspired Education Group, an international group of more than 100 schools.

Pupils progress through the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools to GCSEs. The Sixth Form offers a broad range of A Levels, a small number of vocational Cambridge Technical courses and the Extended Project Qualification, with most students taking three A Levels in classes of usually fewer than 10.

Boarding at Reddam House Berkshire

Boarding is available from Year 7, and more than 90 boys and girls from over 30 nationalities board. Full boarders stay seven days a week during term time, while weekly boarding from Sunday to Friday and flexi stays are also offered.

Boarding Houses and Accommodation

Boarders live in three purpose-designed houses. Drake House, the largest, takes up to 66 students in single, double and triple rooms, with single rooms usually kept for final-year boarders. Blake House has double rooms with shared Jack-and-Jill bathrooms, and The Loft, completed in 2022 at the top of the mansion, adds a kitchen, a games room and a cinema used by boarders from every house. Resident boarding staff provide support around the clock.

Boarding Life

Each house runs its own weekend programme, with outings such as Thorpe Park, shopping in Windsor, Ascot Races and Reading FC matches, and paintballing, quizzes and pizza nights on campus. Boarders can use the 25 metre indoor pool, fitness suite, 350-seat theatre and dance studios.

Academic and Pastoral Support

Every student has a tutor, seen daily, with regular one-to-one tutorials on progress and university plans, and students can also turn to a mental health first aider or the school counsellor. Learning support specialists work with pupils individually or in small groups, and the Good Schools Guide records provision for dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and Asperger's syndrome. Sixth Form students have their own study centre.

Every international boarder at Reddam House Berkshire must have a UK guardian. British Guardianship provides AEGIS accredited boarding school guardianship for international students at UK boarding schools.

English Language Requirements

English is assessed for every applicant whose first language is not English, and the school expects Middle and Senior School applicants to have reached at least CEFR B1. No separate minimum is published for Sixth Form entry, and British Guardianship confirms the level required during placement. EAL lessons are taught in groups of usually no more than five, and most EAL students take Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language, while Sixth Form students follow an IELTS preparation course.

Child Student Visa

Students coming to the UK will usually need a Child Student visa. Reddam House Berkshire is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and requires an approved guardianship arrangement before it issues a sponsored student's Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. The visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
