Learn More →Trinity School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Teignmouth on the south Devon coast, educating around 250 pupils from nursery age to 18. Founded in 1979, the school overlooks the Teign Estuary and Lyme Bay, about 20 minutes from Exeter. Since 2019 the school has been part of Alpha Schools, an independent schools group founded in 2003.
Pupils in the senior school follow a broad curriculum in Years 7 to 9 before choosing GCSE options for Years 10 and 11. The Sixth Form offers a range of A Level and BTEC subjects within the Transitus Programme, which adds leadership, enterprise and service strands.
Trinity School has a small boarding community of more than 30 boarders from around ten countries. Boarding runs from Year 5 to Year 13, and pupils can board full time, while flexi and occasional boarding are available to day pupils. Full boarders stay at school at weekends, with one optional exeat weekend in each half term.
There are two boarding houses on the school site. Chapel House is a mixed house for younger and middle school boarders from Year 5, with separate areas for girls and boys. Sixth Form boarders live in MD Halls, which has two wings joined by a shared kitchen and common room, with resident houseparents and staff accommodation at each end of the building.
Evenings follow a structured study programme with access to teaching staff and the school's ICT facilities, and weekend revision sessions run before public examinations. The activity programme uses the coastal setting, with surfing and kayaking alongside trips to local towns, cooking and board game evenings. Junior boarders up to Year 8 have an organised trip or activity every Saturday and Sunday, while older pupils may visit Teignmouth or Exeter.
The Learning Success Department supports pupils with additional needs such as dyslexia, and around one in five pupils has some form of additional need. Form tutors, key stage heads and boarding staff monitor each pupil's progress, with half-termly reviews to agree a support plan where needed. Boarders can also contact an independent person if they wish to raise a concern.
Every international boarder at Trinity School must have a UK guardian. British Guardianship provides AEGIS accredited boarding school guardianship for international students at UK boarding schools.

Trinity School accepts international boarders from Year 5 through to the Sixth Form, where students choose from A Level and BTEC courses. Most international students join in September; entry in other year groups is considered individually. The school is about 25 minutes from Exeter Airport, while London Heathrow is three to four hours away by road. British Guardianship supports international families through every stage of the application with our boarding school admissions service.
English is assessed as part of the application, and British Guardianship confirms the level required for each year of entry during placement. The school assesses each new pupil's language proficiency and prior learning and then provides English as an Additional Language support suited to their needs.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. Trinity School is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register, and the visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
Trinity School requires every international student to have an education guardian, including boarders aged 18 or over whose parents live overseas. The guardian must be at least 25, a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain or settled status, and provide a private home address in the UK, and the school regards AEGIS accreditation as best practice for guardianship organisations. Boarding houses close for the holidays and half terms, when the guardian provides accommodation. The guardian also arranges travel at the start and end of each term, offers 24-hour emergency support, helps keep passports and visas valid and liaises with the school on welfare, academic and medical matters.

Whenever your child cannot stay at Trinity School, for example during half terms, exeats or holidays when boarding houses close, they stay with one of our vetted host families. British Guardianship remains your child's educational guardian throughout every stay.
We have guardians available and ready to be assigned. The overall timeframe depends on how quickly the required paperwork is completed and communication with Trinity School is finalised. A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Trinity School may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
