Based on Braidley Road in the seaside university town, it prepares an international community of students for UK university entry. The college is part of Kings Education, an international education group with sister colleges in Brighton and Oxford.
Students take GCSEs, A Levels and university foundation courses. Degree Pathway Programmes lead towards undergraduate study in Allied Health Sciences, Business and Management, Computer Science, Economics and Finance, and Medicine, and the college also runs an Academic Study Programme.
Kings Bournemouth is a small college of around 70 students, the majority of whom board, living either in the college residence or with homestay families. The residence accepts students from age 14 and operates throughout the year with Sunday arrivals and departures, so boarders stay in at weekends.
Students under 18 board at Kings Charminster, a residence of 41 single en-suite bedrooms about 20 minutes' walk from the college. A full-time residence warden and live-in wardens look after students, with 24-hour security and coded access to buildings and bedrooms. Breakfast and dinner are cooked on site, halal and vegetarian diets are catered for, and the residence is alcohol free. Students aged 18 and over can move to the self-catering Belaton Residence.
Curfews are 9.30pm for under-16s and 10.30pm for students aged 16 to 18. Clubs include the Student Council, yoga, basketball, football, badminton, beach volleyball, martial arts, chess and astronomy, using an activity hall and outdoor table tennis. Shops and cafes are five minutes' walk from the residence, and the town centre and beach are within walking distance.
Every student has a Group Tutor, and a Director of Studies follows their development from the first fortnight. A UCAS coordinator supports university applications. A group Learning Support Coordinator assesses students with additional needs, while welfare and accommodation officers help with personal matters, and mindfulness programmes address anxiety and homesickness.

British Guardianship supports international families through every stage of the application with our boarding school admissions service.
English is assessed as part of the application, and British Guardianship confirms the level required for each year of entry during placement. Kings Education also runs an Academic English Preparation programme for students who need to strengthen their English before moving on to academic study.
Students from overseas aged under 18 will usually need a Child Student visa. Kings Bournemouth is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register through Kings Education, whose licence covers its colleges in Brighton, Bournemouth, London and Oxford. The visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
Kings does not make an education guardian compulsory for every student under 18: the need depends on the student's living arrangements, and the college may require one where this is in the student's best interests. A guardian should live close enough to reach the student quickly in the event of illness or an emergency, and parents confirm their chosen guardian on a Kings appointment form before arrival.
British Guardianship is AEGIS accredited and a BSA Certified Guardian, and can act as the nominated UK guardian for Kings Bournemouth boarders. Our boarding school guardianship service covers regular contact with the college, travel coordination and accommodation with vetted host families during half terms, exeats and holidays, so that parents have a single, reliable educational guardian in the UK who follows their child's progress and wellbeing throughout the year.

Boarding school guardianship is charged per term and starts from £350, with host family stays, travel arrangements and other services added as your child needs them. Full details are on our guardianship fees page.
A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Kings Bournemouth may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
