Learn More →Oxford International College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding college in central Oxford, Oxfordshire, for students aged 15 to 19. The college is part of Nord Anglia Education, an international group of more than 90 schools, which acquired it in 2021, and it has no connection to the University of Oxford.
The One Year GCSE Programme, for students aged 15 to 16, covers up to seven subjects and prepares students for A Level study. Sixth Form students choose three or four A Levels from ten subjects, including mathematics, economics, psychology and the sciences, over two years or on an accelerated 18-month route aimed at science, medicine and engineering. The Extended Project Qualification is also offered.
Around 350 boarders from more than 40 countries make up almost the whole student body. Boarding is full boarding, and boarders stay in their houses at weekends, with brunch on Sundays and later curfews on Fridays and Saturdays. The houses close for the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays.
Students live in four city-centre houses. Wavy Gate, a secure gated development within walking distance of the college, has 87 en-suite bedrooms and studios in clusters of six, each sharing a kitchen and common room. Alice House, near Magdalen Bridge, has 14 self-contained studio flats for the oldest students. Most rooms are single, with some en-suite twin rooms, and House Parents provide care around the clock.
Curfews are set by year group: from Sunday to Thursday, Year 11 students return by 7pm, Year 12 by 8pm and Year 13 by 9pm, and never later than 10pm. Boarding staff and strategy tutors help students build routines and manage their workload. Activities include sport, outdoor pursuits, creative clubs, cultural trips and student-led events, and London is about an hour away by train.
Each student is supported by the pastoral department, House Parents, a mentor and a progress tutor, and the college employs a full-time nurse and a professional counsellor. The college does not publish details of specialist learning support, so families should discuss individual needs with British Guardianship.
Every international boarder at Oxford International College under the age of 18 must have a UK guardian. British Guardianship provides AEGIS accredited boarding school guardianship for international students at UK boarding schools.
Every accredited UK boarding school offers a range of sport, arts and academic facilities for international students, together with an extended programme of activities in the evenings and at weekends. For full details of the facilities and activities available, please visit the official Oxford International College website.
Oxford International College admits international boarders at two stages: the One Year GCSE Programme from age 15 and the A Level programmes from age 16. The One Year GCSE Programme and the Two Year A Level Programme start in September, while the 18-month A Level Programme starts in January, so the college has two intakes. The one-year GCSE route is designed to prepare students for A Level study. British Guardianship supports international families through every stage of the application with our boarding school admissions service.
The college sets a minimum English level for each programme, expressed as an Academic IELTS score:
Every applicant also completes an English placement assessment. English as a Second Language is taught as a GCSE subject on the one-year programme, giving students a recognised English qualification alongside their other subjects.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. Oxford International College is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register, and it works with a specialist immigration firm that guides families from the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies through to checking financial evidence and forms. The visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
Oxford International College requires every student under 18 to have a guardian. Parents can appoint their own guardian and complete the college's guardianship form before arrival, or ask the college to recommend a guardianship company. Because the boarding houses close for the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays, the guardian plays a central part in planning travel and accommodation between terms.
British Guardianship is AEGIS accredited and a BSA Certified Guardian, and can act as the nominated UK guardian for Oxford International College boarders. Our boarding school guardianship service covers regular contact with the college, travel coordination and safe accommodation with vetted host families during half terms, exeats and holidays, giving parents a single, reliable educational guardian in the UK.

A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. Oxford International College may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
