Learn More →LVS Ascot, the Licensed Victuallers' School, is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Ascot, Berkshire, for pupils aged 4 to 19. The Infant and Junior School, Senior School, Sixth Form and boarding houses share a 26-acre parkland campus around 30 minutes from London Heathrow. Founded in Kennington, London, in 1803, the school moved to Ascot in 1989. It is managed by the Licensed Trade Charity and is part of the LTC Education Group, a group of five schools.
Pupils take GCSEs in the Senior School, and the Sixth Form offers A Levels alongside BTEC courses and the Extended Project Qualification, with pathways including medicine, aviation and football with Southampton FC.
LVS Ascot accepts boarders from age 10 and offers full, weekly and flexi boarding, as well as occasional nights. Boarders come from more than 20 countries. There is only one exeat weekend in the academic year, so full boarders remain in school at weekends, and weekend activities are included in the fees.
Boarders live in four single-sex houses on the main campus. Hampton House for boys and Osborne House for girls each take more than 50 boarders from Year 5 to Year 11, while Sixth Form boys board in Blenheim House and Sixth Form girls in Kew House. All bedrooms are shared by at least two students, and each house is run by a Housemaster or Housemistress with boarding staff and resident tutors.
After lessons end at 4pm, boarders choose from clubs such as sport, art, chess and film or use the pool and courts, before supper at 6pm and prep until 8.30pm. Saturdays bring sports fixtures and trips to ice rinks, the coast, historic sites and theme parks, while Sundays start later with brunch, followed by an organised activity and a roast supper.
LVS Ascot is not a specialist school, but it supports pupils with mild learning needs such as dyslexia and ADHD through trained subject teachers and a neurodiversity team offering assistive technology and exam access arrangements. The Health and Well-being Centre has qualified medical staff and overnight rooms for unwell boarders, and pupils can see on-site counsellors.
Every international boarder at LVS Ascot must have a UK guardian. British Guardianship provides AEGIS accredited boarding school guardianship for international students at UK boarding schools.
Every accredited UK boarding school offers a range of sport, arts and academic facilities for international students, together with an extended programme of activities in the evenings and at weekends. For full details of the facilities and activities available, please visit the official LVS Ascot website.
LVS Ascot accepts international boarders from age 10, through the Senior School and into the Sixth Form. Alongside GCSE and A Level routes, international students can take the one-year Pre-A Level programme or the NCUK International Foundation Year, which prepares students for entry to undergraduate degrees. The main intake is in September, and the school also takes new students at other points in the year. British Guardianship supports international families through every stage of the application with our boarding school admissions service.
LVS Ascot does not publish minimum CEFR or IELTS levels. Overseas applicants complete an online English test, and British Guardianship confirms the level required for each year of entry during placement. Tailored English as an Additional Language tuition runs alongside the wider curriculum, and the Pre-A Level programme concentrates on language acquisition for students planning to apply to UK universities.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. LVS Ascot is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies once a place has been accepted, while the visa application itself is submitted by parents. The school also tracks visa expiry dates and issues a new CAS when an extension is needed. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
LVS Ascot requires every international boarder to have a UK-based guardian in place before the visa application is submitted. The guardian must be at least 25, not in full-time education, a UK national or settled resident, living in the UK during term time, ideally within two hours of the school, and able to communicate well in English. The school recommends AEGIS accredited guardianship organisations and does not arrange airport transfers.
British Guardianship is AEGIS accredited and a BSA Certified Guardian, and can act as the nominated UK guardian for LVS Ascot boarders. Our boarding school guardianship service covers regular contact with the school, travel coordination and safe accommodation with vetted host families during half terms, exeats and holidays, giving parents a single, reliable educational guardian in the UK.

Whenever your child cannot stay at LVS Ascot, for example during half terms, exeats or holidays when boarding houses close, they stay with one of our vetted host families. Every host family is visited in their home, provides professional and personal references and holds an Enhanced DBS check for all household members aged 16 and over. British Guardianship remains your child's educational guardian throughout every stay.
We have guardians available and ready to be assigned. The overall timeframe depends on how quickly the required paperwork is completed and communication with LVS Ascot is finalised. As every case is different, timelines can vary, but we aim to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible.
Boarding school guardianship is charged per term and starts from £350, with host family stays, travel arrangements and other services added as your child needs them. Full details are on our guardianship fees page.
A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. LVS Ascot may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own. As an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider, British Guardianship meets these requirements on your behalf, with vetted guardians, Enhanced DBS checked host families and 24-hour emergency support.
