Learn More →St George's Ascot is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18, set on a 30-acre campus in Ascot, Berkshire, about 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport. Founded in 1877 as a boys' preparatory school, it had become a girls' senior school by 1923 and is part of the St Albans Education Group.
Pupils take GCSEs and then A Levels in the Sixth Form, where the Extended Project Qualification is also offered. The school is moving to co-education in phases, admitting boys into Years 7 and 9 from September 2027 and into the Sixth Form from September 2028, and is developing a pathway from age 3 with St George's School Windsor Castle.
Full boarding means seven nights a week, with boarders in school at weekends. Families can also choose tailored boarding of four, five or six nights a week, or occasional nights when space allows. Boarders come from across the UK, many from London, and from overseas. St George's Ascot offers full boarding for international students; current boarder numbers are available on request.
Boarders in Years 7 to 11 live in Markham House, part of the original school building, where younger girls share bedrooms and rooms are shared by fewer pupils as they move up the school. Sixth Formers board in Loveday House, where every boarder has a single bedroom and the house has its own common room and kitchen. Each house has an experienced Housemistress and pastoral staff, and boys will board in dedicated accommodation.
Each weekday evening has a theme, from creative sessions and games nights to wellbeing sessions and Friday film nights. There are no Saturday lessons; weekends combine sports fixtures, supervised study, brunch and a Sunday swim with trips to theatres, theme parks, workshops, shops and the countryside. Boarders in Years 11 to 13 also have life skills sessions, wellbeing workshops and cultural outings.
The Learning Support team helps pupils with specific learning difficulties through individual pupil profiles, in-class strategies and one-to-one specialist sessions delivered with the Helen Arkell Centre. A study skills programme runs from the first year through the GCSE years, and assistive technology is available.

No minimum English score is published by year of entry. English is assessed for every international applicant, and the school aims for pupils to reach IELTS 7.5 by the time they leave. EAL lessons are taught one-to-one, set on entry as an extra and reviewed each term, and pupils are prepared for external English examinations including IELTS.
Students coming to the UK from overseas will usually need a Child Student visa. St George's Ascot is a licensed Child Student sponsor on the UKVI register and sponsors visas for the length of a pupil's senior schooling, working with a specialist immigration law firm, while the visa application itself is submitted by parents. Our Child Student visa guide explains the requirements and process, and families holding a British National (Overseas) visa can contact us for guidance on the BN(O) route.
Every international boarder must have a UK guardian, confirmed before visa sponsorship is issued. The guardian must be over 25, not in full-time education, a British citizen or settled resident, and live within two hours' drive of the school. The school strongly recommends an AEGIS or BSA accredited guardianship organisation.

A UK student guardian must be a responsible adult, usually aged 25 or over, who lives permanently in the UK, speaks fluent English and is close enough to the school to respond quickly in an emergency; many boarding schools set a maximum travel time. The guardian must be contactable 24 hours a day and hold an Enhanced DBS check where they or their household host the student. St George's Ascot may also ask for the guardian's details before the start of term and set additional requirements of its own.
